Located 1.5 miles northwest of Otranto, Iowa on County Road S70. Thirty- three acre area contains Mitchell County's last prairie pothole. Off-road parking and walk in access only. Open to hunting and trapping.

 Nelson Paradise Wildlife Area View Aerial Map (74KB)

This 80 acre area is located 1 mile east and 0.5 miles north of Otrantro, Iowaon Dancer Ave. Open to hunting. Off-road
parking and walk in access to Otter Creek.
 

Cedar Block Wildlife Area View Aerial Map (74KB)

Located 1 mile southeast of Otranto, Iowa, this 40 acre area is open to hunting. Off-road parking available.

Hamlin Garland Wildlife Area View Aerial Map (111KB)

This 112 acre area is located 1 mile north of St. Ansgar, Iowa on 475th St. It has an existing 26 acre marsh and open to hunting, hiking, nature study and cross-country skiing. There is off-road parking and walk in access. Popular hunting area.
 

Boerjan Wildlife Area View Aerial Map (111KB)

This 20 acre woodland management area . Turtle Creek trout stream runs through the area. Open to public hunting.
 

L.R. Falk Wildlife Area / Cedar River Greenbelt View Aerial Map (95KB)

Located 1.5 miles west of Osage, Iowa on Highway 9. The previously quarried site is now used as the location for the headquarters, shop and nature center for Mitchell County and the Cedar Valley Memories Museum. Public hunting allowed. Trailhead begins here for the Cedar River Greenbelt Trail.

 Pinicon Alders Wildlife Area View Aerial Map (231KB)

A 310 acre area located 0.5 miles west of McIntire, Iowa. Contains hazelwood and alder shrubs, uncommon to Iowa. Open to hunting, hiking, biking and trout fishing. Primitive camping and off-road parking. Popular hunting site.

This 230 acre area along the Little Cedar River is located 5.5 miles west and 1 mile south of Riceville, Iowa. Contains hardwood timber, marsh area and upland grass. Open to hunting and off-road parking is available.

 

Sleeping Duck Marsh View Aerial Map (125KB)

    
Located 1 mile south of Riceville, Iowa with river access on both sides of the Wapsipinicon River. Primarily marshland surrounded by excellent habitat for game birds. Open to hunting on this 62 acre area. Off-road parking available.

Gerbig's Woods

Located 2 miles southeast of Stacyville, Iowa, this 20 acre undeveloped area is well timbered, providing good wildlife habitat. The Little Cedar River runs through the southwest corner. Open to public hunting.

New Haven Potholes - Does not allow public hunting


Located 6 miles east and 1.5 miles north of Osage, Iowa, this area provides a variety of habitat such as marsh, prairie, woodland, river and several small potholes. Four self-guided hiking trails take you around this 168 acre area. The Little Cedar River runs through the eastern boundary. The area has been developed as an outdoor classroom and does not allow public hunting. There is off-road parking with walk in access.
